Tortes & Tarts!
Did you know that we at Caffe Amadeus bake our own pastries? Yep, we do! We bake pastries from the from the lands of the former Austro-Hungarian Empire. Pastries so different, unlike any you've ever had before!
Many of you have enjoyed, (and many more are doing so even today!), our ever-popular coffee cakes. We invite you to discover our repertoire of taste-tempting recipes from a land and time long ago!
You can enjoy them in your beautiful coffeehouse or order ahead for that special event in your home! We are happy to bake for you! Due to limitations such as staffing and outside work obligations, (we're still so new!!!), the pastries shown below are available on select days. In other words, we bake all of the goodies that you see, but you won't see them all at once when you come in. If you see something that looks good to you today, you should buy it now because we will probably have something different tomorrow! We bake in small batches - just like we roast coffee beans! We require a deposit of half-down for special orders. Thank you!
You can call to order by calling 724-349-0540. Please leave a message and we will call you right back! We will not leave a customer in line to pick up a ringing telephone; a courtesy we are sure you would appreciate if we were preparing your coffee or tea!
Dobos Torta
Dobos Torta history goes way back to 1884/5 when Hungarian confectioner, József Dobos created this five layer-chocolate buttercream and presented it at the National General Exhibition of Budapest in 1885. None other than emperor Franz Josef and empress Elisabeth were among the first to try Dobos’ newest cake! They absolutely loved it! Of course, a ringing endorsement from the Imperial and Royal couple didn’t hurt the popularity of this delicious cake! Dobos took his cake with him all over Europe, sold lots of Dobos, and managed to keep the recipe a secret until his retirement in 1906 when he gave it to the Budapest Confectioners' and Gingerbread Makers' Chamber of Industry. At the time, only members of the industry could freely use his original recipe. "Dobos", in Hungarian, means "Drummer". This delicious "drum" cake consist of five layers of thin sponge interacting with rich chocolate buttercream, with a thin caramel layer on top! A dense, and very delicious, cake that we are so very proud to offer to you at Caffé Amadeus!

Just look at those beautiful cherries and creamy chocolate! How about that guy? What a man!
Please call ahead to order! Fresh cherries are seasonal. Another option to this cake would be the mouth-watering Leschanz Chocolate Mousse Cake!
